Proving Yourself

I think this is exactly the age when we're all trying to prove something - financial independence, work ethic, athleticism, commitment, desirability, etc.  As I started to think about it, this attitude becomes markedly more apparent as a person becomes more self-aware.  It seems to me though that this is on-going too, which is probably a good thing.  It makes us a little more competitive - gives us a reason to kick butts and take names.  I feel like I even try to prove myself wrong.  I fear one day this same attitude will cause me to run a marathon or irresponsibly get a dog that I'll pretend I can care for.  THIS IS THE POINT OF FACEBOOK.  I rest my case.  No more to say.  I should have a Phd in sociology by now.  BLOGADEMIA.
