Female Role Models

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are the Barbies of my life - an unobtainable female role model.  When you're young, Barbie is cool because she has everything - a job at the mall, a sweet jeep wrangler, an ever changing wardrobe - really what more could you want from life?

Likewise Tina Fey and Amy Pohler are smart, funny go-getters - what more could I aspire to?  Back in the day Tina Fey was supposed to be frumpy and wear ill fitting clothes on 30 Rock, but now her stylists won't stand for it any longer.  Both Liz Lemon and Leslie Knope are well dressed ladies with great jobs AND great hair.  Like come on NBC, frumpiness can be comfortable.  Is that so wrong?  Can someone please come style my hair to perfection?  I didn't even think it was possible to have such great looking hair in Indiana.  Is Leslie Knope a city council member or beauty queen contestant?

Rumor has it that if Barbie was a real lady with the same proportions, she wouldn't be able to stand.  It's the same thing with Liz Lemon and Leslie Knope.  I couldn't be that funny unless someone scripted my life too.  IT'S JUST NOT FAIR.

Let's also add that if this is society's way of telling me that I will inevitably have an unhappy marriage...case study of my female role models - Hillary Clinton, Amy Poehler, the powerpuff girls...things are not looking up.
