Drinking in all its forms

20 somethings love to label their drinking time with specific titles
  • happy hour - after work specially priced drinks
  • brunch - weekend bottomless mimosas/bloody mar
  • book club - a bottle (or more) of wine
  • cinco de mayo - tequila
  • cook out - cooler of cheap beer
  • engagement party - champagne
It's as though we think we're fooling someone into thinking we don't drink too much.  When I say, "I have book club tonight," you think I'm gathering with friend to discuss a book, not to drink and discuss people's love lives.   Sneaky, eh?  My friends have even converted their love of brunch into a "day drinking club."  That's right - we drink during the day - no need for euphemistic titles.

Plus drinking = hobby, and since we don't have kiddos, we should have hobbies out the wazoo.  Fact - half of the US has bought or received a "brew your own beer" kit by the age of 30.  Not a proven fact, but I'm not some kind of scientist!  Then, upon brewing beer, you can discuss on a scale of 1-10 just how "hoppy" you like your beer to be.  I mean, really, is there some kind of hops-o-meter I should pick up at the liquor store in order to be able to contribute to these conversations?  The point is we're out of college, but drinking is still our favorite social activity, and I think as people start to cut back on drinking, the real QLC begins.  Is this adulthood?  Drinking in moderation?
